Today is the September 11, 2023 and we are back talking all about the global history of produce including fun facts and stories, when it all started, how it became commercialized and how when and why we do it. The origins of some food extend to the earliest human civilizations. Through the centuries, many of these foods shaped or altered the course of history. In the process, some of them took on a life of their own in religion, literature, the arts and popular culture.

Tune in and Tune On each week with our host Patrick Kelly and John Paap

In 1663, Hendrick Schoonmaker was granted 300 acres of land as payment for his military service in the Esopus Wars (1659-1663). By 1680, the Schoonmaker family was farming the land in what is today Accord, NY and continues to do so today. In fact, Saunderskill Farm is one of very few farms in the nation to receive the “Tricentennial Award” from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Join John as he sits down with 10th generation family member, Jack Schoonmaker, as they discuss over three centuries of history on Saunderskills Farm.
